A little bit about me

Hello blog readers,

I am the Managing Editor of the Lockport Union-Sun & Journal in Lockport, NY. The US&J is a daily newspaper, serving the people of Niagara County, which is less than 30 minutes from Buffalo, NY.

This blog basically serves as an extension of our newsroom, breaking some stories, here first, but also includes many posts with my own original thoughts and ideas on topics of importance to our readers. The opinions posted here are my own and not the opinion of our newspaper’s Editorial Board. Similar to my weekly column, which appears Sundays in print and online. If you’re still confused by the blog name, and missed my first post, click here.

Personally, I’m 26 years old and married to my beautiful bride, Katie. We live in the Town of Tonawanda, which happens to be where I grew up as well, playing street hockey on Kenton Road and in the parking lots all over the town and village. No, I don’t live in Lockport — I can’t afford the taxes!

I’m a hockey nut, especially when it comes to the Buffalo Sabres. I’m a huge Wayne Gretzky fan and collector of anything with his name or face on it. From lunch boxes to bed sheets, I have it all.

I also enjoy running and entering a few 5Ks a year. Now that I’m a homeowner, you can add honey-do lists to my likes :) Honestly, I do like the outdoor work, it’s the inside stuff that’s a pain.

Professionally, I’ve been editor for three years. Prior to that I was the city editor in Medina, NY at the Journal-Register and before that I was a reporter, here in Lockport.

Thanks for visiting, and be sure to check out our site and other blogs.
